Sebastian Aho continued to drive Carolina’s attack, while Andrei Svechnikov played one of his strongest games of the Final, using his size and physicality to wear down the Vegas defense.
In goal, Frederik Andersen made several key saves during crucial moments, particularly late in regulation when Vegas appeared ready to steal momentum heading into overtime.
Vegas Still Has Plenty of Reasons for Confidence
Despite the loss, the Golden Knights should not be overly concerned.
Jack Eichel continued to create offense, Mitch Marner remained dangerous every time he touched the puck, and Vegas still generated enough chances to win the game.
The concern for Bruce Cassidy’s club is defensive execution. Carolina found more space in the offensive zone than they did in Game 1, and Vegas struggled at times containing the Hurricanes’ speed through the middle of the ice.
Those adjustments will need to be addressed before Game 3.
What Happens in Game 3?
The Carolina Hurricanes vs Golden Knights Game 2 result has completely changed the complexion of this series.
Now the pressure shifts to Vegas on home ice.
Historically, Game 3 in a tied Stanley Cup Final often becomes a pivotal turning point. The Golden Knights will have the crowd behind them, but Carolina now carries momentum and confidence heading west.
The edge still slightly favors Vegas because of home ice and their proven playoff experience. However, if Carolina receives another strong performance from Andersen and continues winning the speed battle, the Hurricanes are fully capable of stealing a game in Vegas.
