2026 World Series Preview: Brewers vs. Rays, Who Will Win Their First Championship?

The stage is set for the 2026 World Series, and baseball is guaranteed a first-time champion.

The Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays will meet in a best-of-seven series beginning Friday, October 23, at American Family Field in Milwaukee.

Neither franchise has ever won a World Series, making this matchup particularly significant for both organizations.

Milwaukee Brewers: A Season to Remember

The Brewers enter the World Series after an outstanding regular season that saw them finish with a franchise-record 103 victories, the best record in Major League Baseball.

Milwaukee carried that momentum into October, defeating the San Diego Padres in the National League Division Series before sweeping the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS.

Jackson Chourio, William Contreras and Christian Yelich provide Milwaukee with a dangerous offensive core, while Jacob Misiorowski gives the pitching staff a powerful weapon.

The Brewers have also benefited from strong defense and an effective bullpen throughout their postseason run.

Milwaukee’s last World Series appearance came in 1982, when the franchise lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.

Now, 44 years later, the Brewers have another opportunity to bring a championship home.

Tampa Bay Rays: Looking to Make Franchise History

The Rays have taken a different road to the Fall Classic, but their results have been just as impressive.

Tampa Bay finished with 98 regular-season wins before sweeping the New York Yankees in the ALDS and defeating the Cleveland Guardians in six games to capture the American League pennant.

Junior Caminero and Yandy Díaz have been important offensive contributors, while Drew Rasmussen and Freddy Peralta headline a pitching staff capable of challenging Milwaukee’s lineup.

Peralta brings an interesting storyline to the series, having previously spent eight seasons with the Brewers.

Tampa Bay previously reached the World Series in 2008 and 2020, losing both appearances.

This time, the Rays will be looking to finish the job.

World Series Matchup: What Will Decide the Championship?

Milwaukee enters with home-field advantage and a balanced roster that has performed exceptionally well throughout October.

The Brewers’ bullpen, defensive consistency and ability to manufacture runs could prove decisive in close games.

Tampa Bay, meanwhile, has the starting pitching and offensive versatility to make this a competitive series.

Managing pitching changes, producing timely hits and avoiding defensive mistakes will be critical for both clubs.

    Game 1: Friday, October 23

The World Series opens in Milwaukee at 8 PM ET, with Game 2 scheduled for Saturday before the series moves to Tampa Bay for Game 3 on Monday.

Both teams have already delivered memorable postseason performances, but only one will finish October as a champion.

Brewers or Rays? One franchise is about to make history.

Tampa Bay Rays Win Nine Straight: Are They Baseball’s Team to Beat?

The Tampa Bay Rays winning streak has reached nine games, and what once looked like another strong season in Tampa Bay is quickly turning into something much bigger.

The Rays enter Friday at 74-46, sitting atop the American League East and owning the best record in baseball. They have opened a 6.5-game division lead and now return home for a four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles.

At this point, Tampa Bay isn’t simply hot. The Rays are making a serious case as baseball’s team to beat.

    Nine Straight and Counting

Tampa Bay’s latest statement came during a sweep of the Athletics. The Rays scored 30 runs across the three-game series, finishing it with an 8-4 victory that extended their winning streak to nine.

Liam Hicks delivered the biggest blow in the finale, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and launching a three-run home run.

The Rays have also been dominant at Tropicana Field, carrying a 41-18 home record into Friday’s matchup with Baltimore.

    Built for October?

The biggest question is whether Tampa Bay can turn regular-season dominance into a deep postseason run.

One major reason for optimism is the back end of the bullpen. Bryan Baker has emerged as one of baseball’s most effective closers, recording 34 saves with a 1.55 ERA and 0.84 WHIP while earning an All-Star selection.

There are still concerns. Tampa Bay’s bullpen has shown some vulnerability recently, and October baseball has a way of exposing even small weaknesses. But the Rays have consistently found ways to maximize their roster and win games without depending on one superstar carrying the entire club.

The AL East Runs Through Tampa Bay

Baltimore now arrives for an important four-game series with the Rays holding firm control of the division. The Orioles are fighting to remain in the Wild Card race, while Tampa Bay has an opportunity to strengthen its grip on the American League.

Nine consecutive wins have changed the conversation.

The question is no longer whether the Rays are legitimate contenders.

It’s whether anyone in baseball wants to face them in October.
