    Falcons vs. Packers: Michael Penix Jr. Returns Under the Thursday Night Lights

    The lights are on at Lambeau Field, and Michael Penix Jr. is back.

    The Atlanta Falcons travel to Green Bay tonight for Thursday Night Football in a Week 3 matchup between two teams already looking for answers early in the 2026 NFL season.

    Atlanta enters the night 0–2 after a difficult start that included a 34–3 loss to Carolina. Through two games, the Falcons have yet to reach the red zone.

    Tonight, however, their offense gets a major change.

    Penix will make his 2026 debut after recovering from the torn ACL he suffered last November. The former first-round pick has been cleared to return and will take over an offense featuring plenty of weapons, including Bijan Robinson, Drake London and Kyle Pitts.

    For Green Bay, the goal is to build some momentum.

    The Packers opened the season with a 39–22 loss to Minnesota before escaping New York with a 20–17 overtime victory over the Jets. Jordan Love and the offense have struggled to find consistency, with Green Bay entering Week 3 last in the NFL in rushing yards and converting just 19% of its third downs.

    But tonight comes with a major advantage: Lambeau Field.

    Green Bay has won 13 consecutive home openers. A victory tonight would give the Packers the NFL record for the longest home-opener winning streak.

    There is pressure on both sides.

    Atlanta needs something to kick-start its season. Green Bay has an opportunity to move above .500 and clean up an uneven opening two weeks.

    And for Penix, it’s a chance to remind everyone why Atlanta invested a first-round pick in him.

    Lions vs. Bills: Thursday Night Football Brings an Early-Season Test

    The NFL spotlight shifts to Buffalo on Thursday night.

    The Detroit Lions head to Highmark Stadium to face the Buffalo Bills in a Week 2 matchup featuring two teams with major expectations this season.

    For Detroit, this is an early opportunity to make a statement on the road. The Lions have established themselves as one of the NFC’s most dangerous teams in recent years, but going into Buffalo under the lights presents a completely different challenge.

    The Bills, meanwhile, will have the advantage of playing in front of one of the loudest crowds in football.

    And as usual, much of the attention will be on Josh Allen.

    Buffalo’s quarterback remains one of the NFL’s biggest threats because of what he can do both through the air and on the ground. Keeping him contained will be one of Detroit’s biggest priorities.

    But the Lions have plenty of firepower of their own.

    Detroit’s ability to establish the run, control possession and create explosive plays could turn this into exactly the kind of back-and-forth prime-time matchup NFL fans want.

    It may only be Week 2, but games like this can tell us plenty about where both teams stand.
