The 2026/27 UEFA Champions League field is officially complete after the final qualifying matches delivered four more teams into the league phase on Wednesday.
AEK Athens, Viking, Slovan Bratislava and Fenerbahçe all booked their places on the final night of qualifying, completing the 36-team field ahead of Thursday’s Champions League draw.
Fenerbahçe Deliver in Lyon
One of the biggest results came in France, where Fenerbahçe defeated Lyon 2–1 to advance 3–2 on aggregate.
The first leg had finished 1–1, leaving everything on the line in Lyon. Fenerbahçe ultimately delivered the result they needed away from home and secured their place among Europe’s elite.
AEK Athens Cruise Through
AEK Athens entered their second leg against Levski Sofia with the tie scoreless after a 0–0 opening match.
There was nothing close about the return.
AEK won 4–0 to take the tie by the same aggregate score and comfortably secure Champions League football.
Viking and Slovan Bratislava Complete the Field
Viking also produced a big performance, defeating GNK Dinamo 3–1 after the clubs had drawn 2–2 in the opening leg. The Norwegian side advanced 5–3 on aggregate.
Slovan Bratislava had a much tougher road. After a 1–1 first leg against Celje, Bratislava needed extra time before earning a 2–1 victory and advancing 3–2 on aggregate.
Those four clubs join LASK, Sabah and Bodø/Glimt as the seven teams to survive Champions League qualifying. The other 29 clubs qualified directly for the league phase.
Now comes the part everyone has been waiting for.
The Champions League league-phase draw takes place Thursday, August 27 at 18:00 CET, when all 36 clubs will discover their opponents and the road to European football’s biggest prize will officially take shape.
